statement
My work grows from a lifelong devotion to the natural world. Drawing and painting are forms of listening for me, a way of entering into quiet dialogue with plants, shells, fossils, and other beings I encounter. I sit with these forms and let their structures, rhythms, and quiet intelligence guide the composition. The work and I move together in real time, following an intuitive pull toward line, color, and pattern. This slow, attentive process is rooted in the belief that nonhuman life carries its own agency, memory, and wisdom, and that through close observation we can glimpse forms of resilience and connection that help us navigate our own lives.
I am drawn to natural forms with an almost embarrassing adoration. Their repeated patterns echo the endurance of mothering and the persistence required to move through uncertainty. My work also draws from the visual languages of my ancestry, through botanical studies, medieval devotionals, illuminated manuscripts, and paper structures that unfold like maps or portals. These influences help me imagine ways of being that do not separate humans from the natural world, but instead honor our shared belonging within a living cosmos. My drawings and paintings are acts of gratitude and attention, invitations to slow down, take solace, and look more lovingly at the world around us. My work is created lustily, in healing, joyful service.
